An 18-year-old girl has been arrested in Jos for allegedly selling her new born baby.
According to Plateau News Online, Abdullahi who lives at the new Abuja area in Jos South Local Government Area, reportedly sold the baby to Ezekiel who is from Mangu Local Government Area and travels to the eastern parts of the country to buy palm oil.
But while the police station, Ezekiel denied buying the baby, insisting that she had an agreement with Abdullahi who gave her the baby to raise as her own since she (Abdullahi), could not raise the child.
“We had an agreement and swore to keep it between us. She gave me the baby to raise as mine.”
But Abdullahi however denied any plan to sell her baby, saying she reported the child as missing at the police station.
“I did not sell the baby of my own volition. I went ahead with the plan of giving up my baby following threats I received from my father to kill me for having a child out of wedlock,” she said.
Both ladies have been detained by the police as investigations into the matter has commenced.
