Gunners are the real #hurtbae

The Gunners are fans of the Arsenal FC, once known as the Pride of North London. That title was stripped from them when Didier Drogba led Chelsea to win the Champions League in 2012.

Last night was really bad for the Gunners as Arsenal continued its horrendous form in the Champions League. Arsenal was thrashed 5-1 in Germany by Bayern Munich.

The Champions League has been a barren venture for Arsenal. Despite the club's global fame it has failed to lift the coveted trophy.

This is not the only thing that makes Arsenal fans sad. The London club has not won the English Premier League since 2004. As a matter of fact, the club went on a trophy less spell for seven years.

Within this barren drought, Arsenal fans have had to endure countless taunts, bants and insults on and offline for years. The club broke the spell in 2014 and 2015 when it won the FA Cup back to back.

This bit of silverware hasn't done much to improve the mood of the Gunners who want their club to battle and defeat top teams in Europe.

This season is looking to be another fruitless venture. A humiliating defeat to Chelsea has crushed the spirit of a lot of Gunners. They have been kicked out of the League Cup and the Champions League is a foregone conclusion. Ten points behind league leaders Chelsea, the only glimmer of hope is the FA Cup but with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City still in it, Arsenal fans are preparing for the worst.

Today, February 16, 2017, the hashtag #hurtbae has been trending on Twitter because of a video where a woman confronts her ex-boyfriend for cheating on her numerously.

Not to take anything away from her narrative, Arsenal fans are the real hurt bae. They have invested their time, money and energy into a relationship with no dividends. They are hurt every season by a stubborn man who refuses to listen to their pleas.

Despite the pain and shame, Arsenal fans are still holding on because of love. They know a better day is coming. When will that better day be? They don't know. They just believe the pain will go away soon.

Valentine's Day was celebrated this week. The week of love should be dedicated to the Gunners. They have been in an abusive relationship for years but they still believe in the power of love.
