Nigerian student lynched in Malaysia for attempting to raping a woman inside elevator

A Nigerian student has been reportedly beaten to death by an angry mob after he attempted to rape a woman in an elevator.

According to reports in Malayonline, an unidentified Nigerian student was allegedly beaten to death by residents of Flora Damansara apartments, for attempting to rape a woman inside an elevator in the Middle East country on September 23.

The reports state that the student had stalked the woman into the lift and attempted to forcefully have carnal knowledge of her when she raised an alarm which attracted several people who rescued her and descended on the culprit, beating him to a pulp before he was rescued by the police but he later gave up the ghost due to the severe injuries he sustained.

The Petaling Jaya Police Chief, ACP Azmi Abu Kassim, disclosed that the suspect died at the Mutiara Damansara police station an hour after policemen took him into custody.

The police chief added that policemen were told the suspect had attempted to rape a woman inside a lift and while waiting to be put in a holding cell in the police station, the suspect was handcuffed and lying on the floor.

He disclosed that the suspect had injuries on the right side of his head, and had scratch marks on his legs and hand and the police were waiting for a post mortem report.

“We received a call from the security manager of the apartment who informed us of the incident. When police arrived at 8.20 pm, the suspect was surrounded by 20 to 30 people and his hands were tied.

The victim put up a fight and screamed for help as the lift door opened and several men who were in the area caught the suspect.

The suspect was then taken to the police station at 8.45 pm. He was fine and he even walked into the station accompanied by policemen.

However, we found him unconscious when one of the officers checked on him. A medical officer examined the suspect and pronounced him dead,” Kassim stated.
