A Canadian girl who was named Isis by her parents is currently facing abuses, bullying and threats because of the dreaded Islamic State terrorists.
A Canadian teenager is not finding life easy as she is being bullied all over the social media and has been banned on Facebook because of the name her parents gave her at birth: Isis King.
The name which is synonymous with the dreaded Islamic State terrorists of the Middle East, has made the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario born girl, who was born many years before the rise of the group, has seen her being looked at as a member of the killer group and even her friends bully her because of her name.
Some people have even told her that her name is offensive and that she should change it. Most of the flak has come from students at her high school, but she is also targeted by people online, who hide under the veil of anonymity.
Recently, she was forced by Facebook to change her name.
"Basically, I was just scrolling through photos and it directed me to this page, where it said my name and told me I have to change it because it was deemed inappropriate and fake.
They’ll call me a terrorist, or a freak, and say I don’t belong and stuff like that."
But King’s mother said she named her daughter Isis after the Egyptian god, who represents the ideal mother, wife, and is the patron of nature and magic and her name has nothing to do with the Islamic State.
