This chef creates classic footwear with sushi

Fashion meets food as Chef Yujia Hu creates classic sneaker collections using sushi. What an amazing "shoe-shi."

Sushi sneakers by Yujia Hu

Yujia Hu, a chef and artist based in Milan, Italy, combined his culinary and artistic talents with his passion for basketball and shoes to make incredible, edible tiny shoes out of sushi ingredients.

By looking closely at real-life shoes, Hu can carefully craft tiny and tasty replicas of contemporary footwear fashion. From trendy basketball sneakers to casual slip-on sandals, the artistic chef's collection of sushi shoes artistically showcases today's tastes in athletic shoes.

Hu is the sushi chef and owner of Sakana Sushi in Milan. He describes his work as a replica of his simplicity. “I think there is no way to define my creations. It represents the simpleness of myself," He said, "For someone, it may be a simply beautiful image, a good idea, or a simply different way to make sushi”.

"I actually went to an art school, but then I interrupted my studies because I had to work for myself and learn how to make sushi from a master sushi chef at only 18 years old," the now-28-year-old chef says. "I began creating onigiri art, at first, just for fun, but then I started being very passionate about it and love what I am doing."

Just so you know Hu's creations are 100 percent edible. He told newsmen that he uses mostly sushi rice, seaweed, fish, and sesame seeds to make the treats.

Well, knowing that these beautiful creations are gonna be destroyed is a little saddening, but then their destruction only means it gets into someone's stomach. That's pretty much exciting and that's why we love his art all the more. They are completely edible.

Whether you're into Nike, Adidas or even Supreme, there's plenty of shoe-shi to go round for everyone depending on your taste and style.
