Ohimai Godwin Amaize, who is a youth and political advocate, aka Mr. Fix Nigeria, is quite dapper as he is front and center of the new Tesslo Concepts lookbook. He dons a range of looks from dapper single and double breasted suits to traditional attires and African infused urban wears.
The tailoring in terms of neatness look good all round. The choice of fabrics for the suits were also quite nice. However, the fitting on some of the blazers could be improved upon, especially around the waist. In addition, the African aspect of the urban wears could be incorporated better, with subtler detailing here and there, perhaps.
In relation to the inspiration behind the collection, Tessy Oliseh-Amaize had this to say: “I was at 'Isale Eko market' in Lagos Island when I stumbled on these set of plaid fabrics that caught my attention. It was like that moment when your eyes open up to something you never knew existed before.
The more I stared at the fabrics, the more it dawned on me that everything we need to give Versace, Armani, Gucci, D&G and the rest a run for their money is right here. I just felt this rush of anger and excitement at the same time and promised myself I was going to make a collection out of these fabrics that will make Nigerians really proud. That’s how the ‘Lagos Island’ collection was born.
It’s important to note that the creative director owns the rights to depict her inspiration and creativity in any way she deems fit, and the critiquing here is solely an opinion. What do you guys think of the collection? Check out the photos and let us know.
