Donna Karan has officially stepped down as creative head of her own DKNY brand

Donna Karan has stepped down as chief designer of Donna Karan International yesterday, Tuesday 30th June 2015.

The 66 year old pioneer of American fashion has been at the creative helm of Donna Karan for over thirty years will reportedly remain with the company in an advisory role with plans to dedicate more time to her Urban Zen Company and Foundation.

The departure will see the suspension of the main land with reports that the brand will soon be rolled into DKNY.

Donna Karan revealed in a statement via style magazine, "Donna Karan New York is a part of me, past, present and future. It has been an honor to speak woman to woman about Seven Easy Pieces that forever changed the way women dress. I want to express my gratitude and my deepest feelings to the dozens and dozens of colleagues over the years who have helped take Donna Karan New York far beyond my wildest dreams."

Her departure comes less than three months after DKNY revealed Public School's Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne as new creative directors.
