Torlowei fashion show and high tea, with Eko Signature

On Tuesday, September 29, 2015, Eko Signature hosted a sumptuous high tea to showcase Torlowei lingerie.

Torlowei Tea Party

With a string quartet performing both classic and contemporary pieces, Champagne flowing, and a high tea deserving of any aristocrat, Eko Signature was the perfect location to showcase the work of Patience Torlowei, the founder and creative force behind Nigeria’s first registered lingerie designer. An exclusive show for invitees only, all the items displayed were made in Nigeria and created from high quality silk and the lightest cotton, with pieces including ‘delicate French lace’ and Swarovski crystal detailing.

Mojisola Adegbile, the daughter of Patience, was the MC for the fashion show, with each piece worn by a team of eleven stunning models. Showcased were a multitude of designs from their current collection, including an impressive array of silk kimonos and the Belinda range, silken trousers described as an ‘elegant alternative to ordinary loungewear.’ The Marjorie night dress featured a silk satin underwired bustier, for those who require ‘more support,’ with a contemporary asymmetric skirt.

Evening wear was displayed also. Of particular note was a classically inspired silk dress. Suitable as an evening gown, it was reminiscent of ‘greek mythology’, with an open back and lace detailing on the bustier.

The final piece stole the show. A floor length cape crafted from hand-shredded Ankara, the layered fabric creating a brilliantly textured piece, with black feather detailing on the neckline. The model wore the Linda bra and shorts beneath, glistening with Swarovski crystals.

Following the fashion show it is safe to say that Torlowei is not only the first registered designer but also one of the finest creative forces within the industry. Founder Patience Torlowei hinted that the show was just a teaser, with “something bigger and more naughty” to come in the future.

High Tea at Eko Signature is a monthly event. It is kindly sponsored by Veuve Clicquot, with Pulse as a media partner.
