For a set period of time (one week, for example) carry a schedule and record all your thoughts, activities and conversations. This will help you understand your patterns, how much you can get done in a day, and where your time is going. You will see how much time you spend on productive or unproductive stuff so you can tweak and adjust to get the right fit.

Plan your day everyday before you start it. Take 30 minutes to plan your day and don’t start the day until you finish your time plan. The most important part of your day, time-wise, is the time you schedule to schedule your day.
