Skales, Davido, Timaya are pure fire on ‘Ajaga’

You need to hear this because it is a jam for all seasons. Skales has fire on his hands.

Skales-Ajaga-ft.-Davido-Timaya

After the release of his debut album “Man On Fire”,Skales has been on a bit of a dry spell. His creativity, which has been a strong part of his artistry deserted him, with a string of singles falling on deaf ears. Honestly, the songs were below par, poor creations which fed off a tired template, or just lacked the right sonic elements to make it catch on.

Then came a new nadir. On the mic, he struggled to be effective. Off the mic, he was caught up in new legal drama from his record label, which had him and his ex-manager, Osagie Osarenkhoe Okunkpulor, held at the Police Station in Lagos. The news ran wild with stories and scoops from the situation, as his $10 million release clause from his contract. He lost his manager, signed a new deal with Paul Okoye’s outfit Upfront And Personal, and released the tropical ‘Nobody’s business’ featuring Banky W.

He’s back now with more than a feature. This new song ‘Ajaga’ is an amalgamation of talent and skills to create a dancehall cocktail. There’s a wicked synth, and an Arabic chant to launch this into a hit song. Timaya starts off the party, digging into his impressive dancehall repertoire to deliver a catchy into. That is followed by Skales, who plays along nicely keeping things ticking. Davido shows up for the final lap, keeping things safe and feminine-based rhyming.

‘Ajaga’ is production triumph first. Egar Boi who has been on a move to drop more music this year, is responsible for this. From the thumping beat, to the subtle horns and synths, he created what is particularly engaging, and if well promoted will be the elusive hit that Skales dearly needs.
