"Olamide paid for 'Shake body' video," singer says

Skales was out in the cold in 2014 after he was sent out by Banky W-led EME. But Olamide helped him get back on his feet.

In what has been a surprising revelation, Skales has revealed the source of the money he used to shoot the video for ‘Shake Body’.

Guess how? It was charity from YBNL rapper, Olamide.

“Guys iv been holding this back for so long but I gota let the world know @olamide_YBNL ...actually gave me cash to shoot "shakebody vid,” the singer wrote on Instagram.

‘Shake body’ video was shot in 2014 by Stanz Visuals. And if you know the back story of the movement you would understand.

Skales was out in the cold in 2014 after he was sent out by Banky W-led EME. The singer was signed in 2010 on a four-year deal, which expired in 2014. That deal was never renewed, and he was kicked out by EME. All was bleak for the young man, as he reportedly moved into Timaya’s house.

“It was a bittersweet feeling, because I actually wanted it to happen, I wanted to make it happen, but at the same time I was comfortable there. Staying in your comfort zone for so long can only ruin you.” Skales told Pulse via a phone call.

Strapping on his hope-belt, he released the song ‘Shake Body’, and set about to grab hold of his career and set up a music business. He founded his personal record label, OHK Entertainment, with the help of his manager, Osagie Osarenkhoe. He further went on to sign producer Drey Beatz. Today, it also has the young talented singer, Attitude and the disc jockey DJ Spicy on his books.

“There’s no business that starts out big. You have to start from somewhere, start small, drop capital and suffer small before it works. Everything was all based on belief. I just believed that this is going to happen, going to work,” Skales said.

‘Shake body’ was Skales’ launch pad as an independent singer. The mega hit song was continentally accepted, and propelled the singer to relevance. Such was the brilliance of the song that it became a certified party explosive. Even to this day, it still retains that power.

Olamide has a part to play in the entire scene, as he silently funded the project. He wanted the news to never come to the public, and he has responded to Skales on Twitter, saying: “God for all bro. We agreed to keep this coded dough lol.”

Olamide did not only fund the video, he also contributed to Skales's debut album "Man Of The Year," by collaborating on the record 'Ijo Ayo'.
