These are the hardest, and realest dancehall tracks produced by Nigerians in recent times.

If you are creating a new playlist made up of Nigerian songs, and you need a bit of that dancehall groove on it, and you are stuck on choices, don't worry.

Pulse Music has got you covered on the ten essential dancehall songs you need on your playlist.

Check them out below

1. 'Julie' by Shank - Released in 2008, this song is a classic dancehall track. This was Shank's debut, and it immediately got him noticed in the music scene. It is a melodic party starter produced by Sossick that still packs enough punch to get a party starting, and bring spice to your playlist.

2. 'Girlie O' by Patoranking - Not having this song on your playlist is close to a crime. It's arguably the biggest Nigerian dancehall song yet. Patoranking firmly established his presence with this song. It is a banging tune that can slide into any pop playlist. Having the remix on your playlist won't be a bad idea too.

3. 'Champion' by General Pype - If you need to uplift your spirit, the biggest single from Pype's career should do the trick. It's triumphant and victorious vibe is perfect for motivational and inspiring purposes. The track still sounds powerful as the first day it was released.

4. 'I'm Taken' by Cynthia Morgan - Dancehall is a hard genre, and it doesn't get harder than Cynthia Morgan's concrete bounce track aimed at pesty and persistent toasters. She prides herself as 'Kingston property', and 'I'm Taken' is so hard and in-your face to ignore.

5. 'Ghetto' by Shank - This was an absolute banger from 'German Sure'. Produced by Sarz, the song is Shank's best song after 'Julie'. It's a gritty track that features Shank's sweet wailing and slumville inspired lines. This is an outstanding and brilliant song that no doubt should be on your playlist.

6. 'Alubarika' by Patoranking - This is the single from the reigning dancehall king that introduced him to Nigerians. If you need to start your day on a positive note with prayers, 'Alubarika' is the song you need for the job.

7. 'Yawa Dey' by Burna Boy - If you need a heavy dose of that Naija feel in your dancehall playlist, then 'Yawa Dey' by Burna Boy is the song you are looking for. It's a delightful throwback to Nigeria's version of dancehall that originated in the 90's from Ajegunle.

8. 'Show Me Yuh Rozay' by Ketchup - No track gets the party going than Ketchup's breakout song. It's a raunchy party jam that sounds as if it was created in Jamaica than in Lagos. If you need to get your dance on, do not skip this heavy jam. It does the trick always.

9. 'Magician' by Ice Prince feat. GRIP BOYZ - Forget the remix with the Jamaican dancehall act Gyptian. The original version of the track is what you should rock to. The chemistry between Ice and his band of brothers create an unforgettable dancehall track that you should have.

10. '48' by Endia - Rap and dancehall have a rich history. The latter gave birth to the genre of music that would blow up in America and eventually in the world. A Grip Boy, Endia merges both worlds on his fan favourite '48' with a menacing patois flow.
