Singer to give 10% of London concert profit to Benue flood victims

More than 100,000 were displaced by the  recent flooding in Benue. But more help is coming from Mr Eazi.

Mr Eazi has pledged to give a tenth of his profits from his forthcoming London concert to victims of Benue flooding.

The singer is scheduled to hold a show titled “Life is Eazu Culture Festival 2017”, on September 23, 2017, at the Roundhouse, London. Turns out he 10% of what comes into his pocket will go to a good cause. He announced this via his Snapchat.

More than 100,000 were displaced by the  recent flooding in Benue with over 5,000 staying at an IDP camp. There have been numerous efforts by the government and private institutions to help provide relief for affected people. Mr Eazi’s new gesture swells that rank.

This move comes after the singer has been roundly bashed by Nigerians on social media after the singer criticised Nigerian musicians from utilizing Ghanaian elements in their music.

Mr Eazi, the pioneer of Banku Music – a fusion sound he describes as the mixture of “Ghanaian bounces, Ghanaian highlife, Nigerian chord progressions, and Nigerian patterns” made this known when he was a guest on Capital Xtra‘s Reggae Recipe.

“Now everybody is using words like Banku, Shitor, Maami, Odoo, Sika. My guy, how come? How do you know Odoo? How do you know Sika? How do you know Maami? From where, what’s the connection?” Eazi said.

“I’s just like an American artist just rapping about something in the UK, and you know he has no knowledge of it.”

The singer is set to drop a new single in the coming weeks, officially ending his good run, after the release of his 2017 EP, “Life is Eazi Vol. 1: Accra To Lagos.”
