The singer has reportedly been asked by Epic Records to create another collection of tracks in time for the festive season.

Mariah Carey is in talks to record a new Christmas album.The singer has reportedly been asked by Epic Records to create another collection of tracks in time for the festive season.Her 1994 LP 'Merry Christmas' is the best-selling seasonal album of all-time and contains the classic song 'All I Want for Christmas Is You'.Although Carey is said to be interested in the project she is yet to sign a deal for the new record, reports the New York Post.

Her next release will be an updated greatest hits collection comprised of 18 of her self-written number one singles and some new material, which will come out to coincide with the start of her Las Vegas residency, 'Mariah Carey No. 1s', at Caesar's Palace Hotel and Casino on May 6.Carey has recently been in the studio with her long-term collaborator Jermaine Dupri working on new tracks.The singer and Dupri's previous work includes hit singles 'Always Be My Baby' and 'We Belong Together'.She recently re-signed to Epic Records, 15 years after leaving the record label.Carey’s most recent album 'Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse' was released in 2014. Her final album for Def Jam, it reached No 3 in the US and No 14 in the UK. It featured collaborations with Nas, Miguel, Wale and Fabolous. It has sold 117,000 copies in the US, the lowest-selling of Carey’s career.Carey’s most recent UK Top 40 single was '#Beautiful', a duet with Miguel, which reached No 22 in 2013.
