Biography of Sound Sultan

Born Fasasi Olanrewaju on the 27th of November1976 is a Nigerian rapper, singer-songwriter, actor, comedian and recording artist. He was born in Jos to Mr. Fasasi Liadi Alarape and Mrs. Fasasi Adeyinka Ajarat and grew up with his 5siblings.

Sound Sultan He attended Stepping Stone Nursery and Primary school and then moved to Osun state to attend Federal Government College after which he acquired a degree in Geography and Regional Planning from Lagos State University in 1999.

Growing up, Sound Sultan had dreams of becoming a doctor however his brother Baba Dee had a huge impact on his love for music and he eventually learnt how to play the guitar. He started out in show business, hosting shows in order to raise money for studio sessions, he is known to have emceed was a talent show that discovered P-square. he released his first single ‘Jagbajantis’ in 2000 which went on to be an instant hit and got him signed on to by Kennis Music and went on to release 4 albums.

Sound Sultan who is regarded as one of the pacesetters of modern hip-hop music in Nigeria collaborated with his brother Baba Dee to start “Naija Ninjas” which is a record label, production outfit and a clothing line.

Sound Sultan is known to be close friends with international musician Wyclef Jean and have worked together. In 2012, it was announced that Sound sultan was made a UN ambassador.

Sound Sultan is a staunch Muslim who married his long time Igbo girlfriend, Chichi Morah, upon marriage to him she converted to Islam and changed her name to Farida, the pair has three children.
