2face, Wizkid to headline festival's 5th edition

This year's edition of GidiFest will be taking place at Hardrock Cafe Beach front and WIzkid will be headlining the festival with music icon 2face Idibia.

This was disclosed at a press conference organised by the organisers of the GidiFest at Hardrock Cafe, VictoriaIsland, Lagos. According to the founder of GidiFest, Okeke Chinedu and its co-founder, Temi Banigo, this year's edition will bring more excitement and fun.

He also announced that other artists who will be performing at this year's edition of GidiFest include Maleek Berry, SDC, YCee, Brymo, Mayorkun and a host of other artists that would be mentioned later on.

Chinedu Okeke also announced that this year's edition will be themed, #GidiTribe and will be taking place at the HardrockCafeBeachfront, Oniru on the 30th of March 2018 at 12 noon. In his statement, Chinedu also highlights how the idea of GidiFest was birthed and how it has grown from its first location at Eleguishi Beach back in 2014 to the location of this year's edition.

The press conference was also an avenue for the organisers to showcase a short clip of last year's GidiFest which took place at Eko Atlantic. According to Chinedu Okeke, even though the rains almost ruined the event, the zeal and passion by Nigerian youth to go on with the show gave a big boost to the organisers.

The roll call of the artists who have performed in previous editions of the concert was also listed with the likes of  Efya of Ghana, K.O from South Africa, Awillo Longomba from Congo and a host of other artists from the United States and the United Kingdom.

Chinedu Okeke also gave reasons they are partnering with Hardrock Cafe for this year's edition as it was born out Hardrock Cafe's love for supporting music globally. He also stated that together with Hardrock Cafe, they were able to organise three different concerts in 2017.

Temi Banigo, co-founder of GidiFest also spoke about its aim to go cashless in the sales of tickets this year at the festival, hence it's partnership with MoreLife which is an app the fans will use in paying for the festival.

One of the headliners of the Festival, 2Face Idibia was also present at the press conference and talked about how he had longed to be part of the festival.

"Somehow I always missed out of this festival, happy to be part of it this time, this is the major festival in Nigeria, looking forward to having fun with you guys, one love," he said.

The organisers also stated that for those who won't be able to purchase the tickets online, they can get theirs from IMAX, FilmHouse Cinema at Surulere and DealDey.
