HBO renews epic drama for 2nd season

"Westworld" which has been described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness, will return for a second season.

HBO announced on Monday, November 14, 2016, that the dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin will return for a second season.

The network also announced the renewal of other series including "Divorce" and "Insecure."

The series stars Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth and Clifton Collins, Jr.

Directed by Michael Crichton, the seriesis produced by Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions, and Kilter Films in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the one-hour drama is based on the 1973 film of the same name, which was written and directed by American novelist Michael Crichton.

Executive produced by  J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk, "Westworld" premiered its first season on October 2016.
