About "Pacific Rim Uprising"

10 years after the Battle of the Breach, the oceans have become restless once again, but the Jaeger program has evolved into the next generation for the PPDC. However, something has reopened the Breach for the Kaiju and a Jaeger has gone rogue.

Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, rises up to stand against the evolved Kaiju and the rogue Jaeger to prevent humanity's extinction and preserve his father’s legacy.

The sequel stars 24-year-old British-Nigerian actor, John Boyega, as the son of Idris Elba who played the Stacker Pentecost in the 2013 film.

The original film which grossed $411m at the box office, starred Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman.

The upcoming sequel will be produced by "Pacific Rim" co-creator, Guillermo Del Toro, along with Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions.

It will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight based on a script by "Jurassic World" co-writer Derek Connolly.

The sequel was originally set for an April 7, 2017 release before being delayed to August 4, 2017, and now March 23, 2018.
