23-year-old Kenyan Lorraine Gakuo was evicted on the most recent episode of the series. The episode saw the contestants engaged in the most difficult challenge of this season. One of the tasks they were given involved performing a Shakespeare monologue to a distracted audience by a poolside.
Gakuo was evicted following the assessment of their tasks by the judges. She is the fourth contestant to be evicted from the house. Proir to her being selected for Top Actor, Gakuo had no formal training in acting. She studied International Business Administration specialising in Marketing and Minor in Japanese Language at university. She also speaks French.
Season two of the reality show hosted by South African movie star Zikhona Sodlaka premiered on March 1. It features three Nigerian contestants who are part of the twelve upcoming actors on the show from South Africa and Kenya. The three Nigerians: radio presenter Tobechi Nneji, upcoming musician Uriel Oputa and TV actor Ifeanyi Dike were Nigerians were selected after auditioning for the show last year.
The winner of the show will get US$10,000 cash, a one-year contract with international representation, and access to Hollywood auditions. BET Top Actor Africa Season 2 airs every Tuesday at 6.30pm West African Time on BET Channel 129.
