Omoni Oboli’s film “The First Lady” hit cinemas in Nigeria on October 1, 2015. The film written and directed by Oboli is a comic drama.

Pulse Nigeria presents five reasons why you need to watch this movie.

1. The story line

This isn’t one of those movies you can predict what happens. The film embodies elements of fantasy.

The film is about Michelle is a prostitute with dreams of being rescued from her pimp called Obama by Prince Charming. Kenechi is heir to a business empire; when his father steps down as CEO with intentions of handing over to him, his uncle blinded by jealousy accidentally gets Kenechi transformed to a little boy.

2. Omoni Oboli

Omoni plays multiple roles in this film – screenwriter, director and actress. In the film she play the past of Michelle. She executes her role as a naïve uneducated prostitute in love with her pimp perfectly. You can’t help but fall in love with her character.

3. Alexx Ekubo

We’re used to Ekubo playing lover boy roles but this film saw him act a tougher role. He acts the part of a local pimp called Obama. His performance is so believable, you would almost forget what the real Alexx Ekubo is like.

4. Yvonne Jegede

Yvonne Jegede has got skills! She plays the role of Sandra, Michelle’s rival. Her translation of this character is super energetic.

5. It's amusing.

The film is funny! The use of language, the actors’ interpretation of their roles is guaranteed to entertain you.
