ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey made the revelation during The Television Critics Association’s press tour in Beverly Hills Thursday, August 4, 2016.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the network is in talks to turn the epic space opera media franchise into a prime-time series.
Dungey said, "The conversations with Lucas, we have had conversations with them and will continue to have conversations with them. I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming.”
She however explained that the deal has not been finalized yet. “It’s all a little bit hush-hush,” she said. “That company exists under a big shroud of secrecy. If you feel Marvel’s secretive, Lucasfilm takes it to a whole other level. Talks are ongoing. We don’t have an official timeline yet.”
While we wait for that, Star Wars fans will be thrilled with Episode VIII in 2017.
Star Wars is an American epic space opera media franchise, centered on a film series created by George Lucas.
The widely watched movie depicts the adventures of various characters in "a galaxy far, far away".
