Last year, Yetunde Akilapa, a Yoruba actress who is prominent in the Odufa Caucus of that sector of the movie industry, was involved in a case of robbery which led to her being remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum prison custody for some months, but was later released in November, 2013.
But on Sunday, 12 January, 2014, the pretty lady, who had told anyone who cared to listen then that her friends had set her up, was once again caught red handed, this time stealing at Magodo Estate, Lagos.
According to those who witnessed the sordid incident, Yetunde had broken into a flat at No 15, Ibitayo Street, Magodo Phase 11, after the occupants had gone to church. Luck, however, ran out on her when one of the occupants of the building, a lady, suddenly arrived home unannounced, only to meet the actress ransacking the apartment.
When the actress saw that she had company, she took to her heels, and with shouts of ‘thief’ rending the air, security men from other compounds joined in the chase and soon caught up with her.
She was dragged back to the flat where she was found and when she could not explain what she was doing there, she was searched and a bunch of master keys were discovered hidden in her brazier.
That was when she was beaten to a pulp before she was rescued by good Samaritans who insisted she be handed over to the police.
We gather that her lawyer and some prominent movie makers in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood later secured her bail two days after her problems were said to be spiritual by family members.
But we hope she is not gradually etching her name in the infamous world of stealing.
