Movie could be Sony's last James Bond movie

According to several reports, the upcoming 'Spectre' movie could be the last James Bond movie to be distributed by Sony.

Sony Pictures could lose its rights to distribute more James Bond film after 'Spectre's November release, Variety reports.

The deal which exists between Metro Goldwyn-Mayer and Sony to distribute the Bond series to cinemas is set to expire this year.

Speaking to Variety, Sony chairman Tom Rothman says he expects a fierce battle.

"The reality is that Sony’s had a fantastic run with the Bonds. Sure we're going to compete for the rights, but, let's be honest, so is everybody in the business," he said.

According to the report by Variety, Warner Bros would be competing against Sony for the distribution rights of the film franchise.

In course of the Bond journey, Sony played a huge role in making 'Skyfall' the biggest Bond film in history, with box office grossing of $1.1bn.

Spectre will be released worldwide on 6 November 2015.
