The award winning filmmaker is currently working on something different - a two-cast period drama titled "Soul Tie," which features Ramsey Nouah and Okawa Shaznay.
In a brief chat with Pulse Nigeria, the filmmaker spoke on the uniqueness of the project, challenges and an expected release date.
On what makes "Soul Tie" different
"It's different mainly because it's a 2 cast period piece and my first dramedy. So my approach towards it was different from the other films I directed prior to it.
"Even though I have directed a period piece before in "Iyore", I had way more characters in that film and it was different in its theme and cultural dynamic."
On challenges encountered
"Considering the fact that it has only two characters, I had to create ways to make the audience stay connected to them from the beginning to the end.
"The film has a good mix of drama and some comedy in it, with the theme regarding soul ties at it's core.
"The Soul tie topic has often been brought up in church studies and things you hear growing up about links you create by being in a close relationship with a partner.
"So I thought to play with the idea creatively."
On release date
"A set released date will be revealed soon once all the arrangements are concluded. These are the beginning phases to put word out about the movie.
But the audience should expect to see the movie this year."
This movie follows the story of a recently married couple Adeolu (Ramsey Nouah) and Gloria (Okawa Shaznay) with the soul tie theme as its central message.
Set in the late 70s, the movie mirrors the story of a couple who took their marital vows without having full knowledge of each other.
