Five shortlisted candidates will be given the opportunity to hone their skills and generate a cutting-edge version of their original screenplays.

This residency by independent production company Urucu Media is open to writer from across Africa. The programme will be held under the mentorship of Berlinale Talents, in partnership with The Nirox Foundation, Durban Filmmart, Restless Talent Management, The French Institute in South Africa and Institute Français's Cinémas duMonde.
Five shortlisted candidates will be given the opportunity to hone their skills and generate a cutting-edge version of their original screenplays.
Residents will be given the chance to attend the Durban Filmmart. And the best project to emerge from the resident will be funded to be a part of La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde in Cannes.
“The aim of REALNESS is to provide the necessary time, space and support to help the continent's best emerging writing talents hone their unique cinematic vision" Urucu Media shared in a statement on their website.
Selected candidates will spend seven weeks from June to August 2016 in South Africa, where the programme will cover their accommodation and feeding costs.
Interested screenwriters can submit their proposed screen plays to www.urucumedia.com.
