According to reports, the delay was as a result of the news that 39-year-old Kerry Washington who plays Olivia on show is expecting her second child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha.

Speaking with Associated Press, Washington who is expecting her second child, stated that her pregnancy had nothing to do with the delay.

According to her, Rhimes found out about her pregnancy a couple weeks after her announcement about the new “Scandal” schedule.

With "Greys Anatomy" and "How to Get Away with Murder" returning this 2016 and retaining their Thursday schedules, the "Scandal" change will mark the first time a Shonda Rhimes' series will share the three-hour slot with a non Shondland series.
