Sadiq Daba won Best Actor in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) held on Saturday, September 26, 2015. The veteran actor rewarded for his stellar performance in "October 1" was nominated alongside Tony Kgoroge, Sdumo Matshali, Abdoul Kareem Konate, and Gerard Essomba.

Daba is a professional broadcaster.
Growing up Daba had always wanted to be a broadcaster. His dreams became reality when he auditioned for a role at Radio Television, Kaduna (RKTV). He has previously work as a news anchor, reporter and editor at RKTV, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) (formerly known as NTV) Sokoto, NTPC Lagos and NTA Lagos.
He began his acting career in the 70s.
His journey into acting started first with radio dramas. While he was working in Sokoto, Peter Igho who led the drama department at NTV offered him a role in a production.
“Cockcrow at Dawn” on NTA brought his acting career into the limelight. He played the role of Bitrus in the 1970s drama series. He has also starred in films and soap operas including: "Behind the Clouds", "A Place like Home", "Soweto", and "Moment of Truth".
He was raised in Sierra Leone.
He grew up in Freetown, Sierra Leone. It was in this West African city he received his education at St. Edwards College, Sierra Leone.
He is originally from Kano. At the age of 15, he returned to Nigeria by boat. He went on to study at NTA TV College and Ahmadu Bello University where he received a degree in Mass Communication
He still works in TV.
He produces documentaries. The award winning actor hosts a programme on DTN called Sadiq Daba presents.
He is married with two children.
