Queen Latifah picked up the award for her role in Bessie to join other winners that include Idris Elba and Uzo Adiba.
On Saturday, January 30, 2015, actress, rapper and show host, Queen Latifah outshines Nicole Kidman at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
According to reports, Latifah defeated Kidman, Susan Sarandon, Christina Ricci and Kristen Wiig to clinch the award for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for black actors at the award ceremony.

In her words after receiving her award, she said, ‘Wow. Thank you, my partner at Flame Unit. Thank you, HBO for giving us a shot to make this happen after 22 years. Thank you, Dick and Lily for finding something in me 22 years ago and giving me a shot to play this part of Bessie Smith. I am in shock right now. I shouldn’t be. But I am. I’m really just very grateful.’
