About Gidi Up - Lala Akindoju (associate Producer)

Gidi Up, the series about four friends hustling and trying to survive started up as an idea from Jadesola Osiberu (the writer and producer). Sometime in 2012, she called me up that she had this idea and needed me for casting.

The first season was about 40-45 Minutes but was cut into short episodes, the first season also served as the piolot.

Following the amazing feedback we received from our audience, we started getting ready for the second season, we knew it had to be bigger since we were shooting for TV.

The first five episodes of Gidi Up 2 was officially premiered at the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas and released online on the 22nd of June.

Gidi Up has four lead characters, Obi (OC Ukeje), Eki (Titilope Sonuga), Tokunbo (Deyemi Okanlawon) , Yvonne ( Somkele Iyama), they have cell friends Folarin (Daniel Effiong), Sharon (Adesuwa Etomi), Meka (Anthony Monjaro),

Changes and Expectations in Season 2:

The change in cast doesn't affect the series in any way. Generally in filmmaking, it is really about the character, and not the cast. In season One, we had Oreka Godis and Karibi Fubara play Eki and Obi respectively, and in season two we have Titilope Sonuga and OC Ukeje play the same role.

The other change would be in Production and the time we spent shooting, production value had to increase since we were shooting for Telvision. Also Costuming, proper Styling, we had to go away to the camp in Osun State to rehearse away from the world.

The season two will have longer episodes as it will run for 30 minutes.

The audience should expect to see characters they can identify with, see Lagos in a different way, fashion, music and style in another style.

The season two will also serve as a benchmark for what TV show should be like.

On Deciding to Air on TV:

In every work of art, you want as many people as possible to see it, you would not want it to be restricted. Secondly, Nobody wants to be an Internet star, the capability of an actor grows with the platform on which their works are showcased on. The dream from the beginning was to take it as far as it could go and the response from fans was great and encouraged us.

Message Behind Gidi Up Series :

Gidi Up is a typical representative of the average young person who lives in a cosmopolitan town, it shows the lives of people who are hustling, who have sacrifices to make, who have choices to make and the means they go through to make it. Every dream has a price tag.

We have plans to go terrestrial, we are starting with Africa Magic now because our audience is not just in Nigeria, and we started the discussion with them earlier.

We have started conversations with Galaxy Television and AIT.

So... Don't miss the opportunity to catch the must-watch thrilling, adventure and lifestyle entertainment series on Africa Magic Entertainment, Channel 151, Sundays by 9:30pm.
