Pulse.ng presents her top most expensive Nollywood movies.

Blockbuster movies budgets are growing bigger and quality movies are getting more expensive to make. Nollywood filmmakers keep thrilling us with blockbusters that keep taking us to the cinemas.

The following movies are high budget because of the cost production. The most expensive movies are not always the biggest hits, but, the below listed films turned out to be big hits in all areas.

Here we go with our top high budget movies:

Half of a Yellow Sun

Half of a Yellow Sun is a 2013 Nigerian film directed by Biyi Bandale and based on the novel of the same name by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche. The film is a love story that follows two sisters who are caught up in the outbreak of the Nigeria Civil war.

The movie which is the most expensive movie filmed in Nigeria with a budget of ₦1.27 billion, is yet to hit the Nigeria Cinemas.

Ije

Ijé is a Nigerian film written by Samuel Tilson & Chineze Anyaene, produced by Paula Moreno & Chineze Anyaene, directed by Chineze Anyaene and starring Genevieve Nnaji, Odalys Gracia  and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.

The movie is the second on our list with a budget of $2.5 million.

Figurine: Aroromire

The popular Kunle Afolayn distinct movie which featured Kunle Afolayan, Ramsey Noah, Omoni Oboli waswritten by Kemi Adesoye, produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan.

The movie production cost over ₦70 million and grossed over ₦30,000,000 (domestic gross) at the Box office.

Flower Girl

Flower Girl is a 2013 Nigerian romantic comedy film which tells the story of a young girl who is dying to get married to her love ; a young man who is desperate to get ahead in his career.

The movie which was directed by Michelle Bello, had a budget of ₦50 million.

Last Flight to Abuja

The award winning movie was written by Tunde Babalola, directed and produced by Obi Emelonye. The movie featured the likes of Omotola Jalade Ekihnde, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Jim Iyke, Uru Eke, Jide Kosoko, Anthony Monjaro and others.

The movie which had a ₦40 million budget yielded $350, 000 with premieres in five cinemas in Nigeria, 10 cinemas in London, ‘Last Flight to Abuja’ was the highest-grossing West African film last year.

Anchor Baby

‘Anchor Baby’ which was produced by Lonzo Nzekwe, featured Omoni Oboli, Sam Sarpong and Terri Oliver. The movie which tells the story of a Nigerian couple illegally living in the U.S., had a budget of $200,000.

Mirror Boy

‘Mirror Boy’ which was directed by Obi Emelonye, featured the likes of Genevieve Nnaji, Osita Iheme,

The film which cost over $200,000 realised almost double the cost at various screenings at Silverbird Cinemas in Ghana,  especially at the 10 cinemas operated by Odeon Cinemas  across the UK.
