Sequel gets 2018 release date

The sequel will debut one week after Marvel’s anticipated "Black Panther," which premieres February 16.
It was recently announced that the sequel will star 24-year-old British-Nigerian actor, John Boyega, as the son of Idris Elba who played the Stacker Pentecost in the 2013 film.

The upcoming sequel will be produced by "Pacific Rim" co-creator, Guillermo Del Toro, along with Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions.
It will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight based on a script by "Jurassic World" co-writer Derek Connolly.

The original film which grossed $411m at the box office, starred Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman.
The sequel was originally set for an April 7, 2017 release before being delayed to August 4, 2017, and now February 2018.
