"October 1" Original DVD copies of movie finally released

After much wait, the much talked about Kunle Afolayan's award winning film 'October 1,' is finally out.

Following its AMAA 2015 'Best Nigerian Film' win,  and TV premiere, Kunle Afolayan's hit movie 'October 1'  is finally out for grabs.

A 2014 Nigerian dark psychological thriller film written by Tunde Babalola, the movie is produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan.

Afolayan took to his Instagram page and YouTube channel to share the news;

The much talked about award winning film stars Sadiq Daba, Kayode Olaiya, David Bailie, Kehinde Bankole, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Fabian Adeoye Lojede, Nick Rhys, Kunle Afolayan, Femi Adebayo, Bimbo Manuel, Ibrahim Chatta, Demola Adedoyin, and a special appearance from Deola Sagoe.

'October 1' is set in Colonial Nigeria, and narrates the story of  a police officer from Northern Nigeria,  Danladi Waziri, who is posted to a remote town of Akote in Western Nigeria to investigate the frequent female murder cases in the community, and have the mystery solved before the Nigerian flag is raised on October 1, Nigeria's Independence Day.

On March 7, 2015, at the 2015 AMVCAs, 'October 1'  dominated the night, winning nine awards at the prestigious event.

On April 13, 2015, the pirated copies of the award winning movie were released amidst controversy.

In an  interview with Channels Television, the filmmaker stated that he was yet to realize half of the money used in making the movie.
