To launch "Tecno Own The Stage"

The singing contest will be hosted by  Uti Nwachukwu with rapper M.I, 'Johnny' crooner Yemi Alade and East African star Bien of Sauti Sol playing the roles of judges.

 

Are you a great karaoke singer? If you are, MultiChoice and Tecno Mobile are searching for you. Their upcoming show titled "Tecno Own The Stage” is a karaoke competition looking to discover new African talent.

“We want to be able to enrich people’s lives, make them fulfil their hopes and dreams. There are lots of people that don’t have opportunities to make it big” said Oye Akideinde, General Manager Operations Divison Mobile Apps of Tecno Mobile.

“We hope to reach out to those people and make them stars,” he said while addressing members of the media earlier today at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.

The singing contest will be hosted by  Uti Nwachukwu with rapper M.I, 'Johnny' crooner Yemi Alade and East African star Bien of Sauti Sol playing the roles of judges.

“There are a lot of people that are closet super stars and this show is going to be a wide success because of that”, M.I said at a press conference.

“Anybody that can sing can be part of it”, the Chocolate City records boss added.

The contest is open to Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria. To enter the competition, contestants have to record and upload their favourite tracks on www.tecnoownthestage.com. The judges will then select the best renditions after which those selected will be invited to the audition phase of the show. Auditions will be held in Lagos, Dar Es Salaam and Nairobi.

The second runner up will get $10,000 and a Tecno Phantom 5 phone, the first runner up will get $15,000, a Phantom 5 phone and a three months internship with an established music label. The winner of first season of “Own The Stage” will receive $25,000, the opportunity to record a song with any of the show’s judges, shoot a music video and go on tour with an established musician.

Tecno “Own The Stage” airs from October 25, 2015 on Africa Magic Urban.
