“Mrs Right Guy” is a story about the life and love a South African woman infused with humour.
“Mrs Right Guy” is set to make its Nigerian cinematic debut soon.
The romantic comedy by Nigerian-born filmmaker Adze Ugah was first released in cinemas in South Africa on May 27, 2016.
The movie stars Dineo Moeketsi, Thapelo Makoena, Lerato Moloi, Tau Maserumule and Thando Thabethe.
Here’s a breakdown of the movie’s synopsis:
Gugu, the walking wounded, rejects love long before it can get too close to rock her self-imposed exile from love, but to find bliss with the right guy she must first realize that no man is created equal, and that, in love, nice guys not only have staying power but can be just right too.
"Mrs Right Guy" was written by Cati Weinek, Pusetso Thibede and Mokopi Shale and produced by Dumi Gumbi, Kethiwe Ngcobo, Shale, and Weinek.
Ugah told the Gauteng Film Commission, South Africa in an article published on May 26, 2016 that he and the producers wanted to create a film for an audience that was being ignored.
"They wanted to tell a story that was about love, how women feel about love and how Johannesburg is a great setting for love," he said in the article.
"They were keen to get away from dark stories set in Jozi about gangsters and people killing each other. Most people living in Johannesburg experience the city differently: they fall in love, they work, they have relationships and friends."
Ugah who is based in Gauteng, South Africa is known for directing “Gog Helen” and TV series including Mfolozi Street”, “ Isibaya” and “Society”.
