Ellie Kendrick, who plays Meera Reed on the show, has confirmed that she probably won’t be back in Season Eight.
“[I’m not appearing] as far as I know. I don’t know. It’s funny because I always get asked, ‘What’s going to happen? Are you in it?’ Genuinely the truth is I don’t know,” Kendrick told Metro.
“I wait for the phone to ring and then I find out, but it hasn’t rung so I don’t know. I’ll find out whether I am or not at some point, but for now, I haven’t been notified so I’m yet to discover.”
Her exit puts an end to a popular fan theory that Meera is Jon Snow's secret twin.
The last time we saw Meera - an unrecognized hero who stood beside Bran through thick and thin - she was unkindly rejected by Bran Stark in season seven.
But the popular twin theory had fans hoping that she would still be a part of the upcoming season.
Nevertheless, Kendrick knows how she wants her character’s story to end.
“All I can hope for is Meera is going to come back on a dragon and be the new queen. That’d be pretty sweet for me. But somehow, not quite sure that’s how it’s going to turn out.”
"Game of Thrones" eighth season has already begun filming. Recently, a fan spotted quite a number of cast members in Belfast, including Kristofer Hivju who plays Tormund GiantBane, whom most fans had a solid reason to believe is dead.
The last time we saw him, he was on the run from the White Walkers, who had just destroyed the wall and invaded the North.
This huge spoiler means that the strong-willed Wilding escaped the collapsing wall.
The eighth and final season of "Game of Thrones" is expected to debut in 2019.
