"Mami Wata" C.J Fiery Obasi announces new movie based on folklore

Another Fiery Film Presentation titled "Mami Wata" is currently in the works.

To be produced by makers of the much talked about films "Ojuju" and "O-Town," in association with DJ Tee Films, "Mami Wata"  is a genre bending revenge-thriller based off on the Mami Wata (Mermaid entity) folklore of Western Africa.   

Legendary music video pioneer and ace cinematographer, Adetokunbo “DJ Tee” Odubawo will lens the project, in addition to being Co-Executive Producer.

 

The feature film, which is a female-driven story will star Lucy Ameh, Nita Byack-George, Paul Utomi, Kolade Shashi, Brutus Richard, and Bolaji Ogunmola as Mami Wata.

Also attached to the film is AMVCA award winning costume designer, Obijie ‘Byge’ Oru (October 1, Being Mrs Elliot), AMVCA nominated and Best of Nollywood award winning Make-up Artiste, Adefunke Olowu (Ojuju).

At the 2015 AMVCAs, Fiery received the 2015 Trailblazer Award. His second movie in the O trilogy "O-Town," screened at the 2015 Africa International Film Festival.

"Mami Wata" will be written and directed by C.J Fiery Obasi, and produced by Oge Obasi.

The project is set to begin principal photography sometime in August on an undisclosed Island in Lagos.
