"Looking for Rhomer" Here's the trailer for China's 1st gay-themed movie [Video]

The gay-themed movie tells the story of two men that in love and facing the dilemma of accepting their relationship, and the prejudice they will face.

The first commercial Chinese movie to illustrate same-sex love is finally being released in China.

Titled "Looking For Rohmer," the movie was first screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, and after a long censorship battle, the movie is finally ready for release in country.

Directed by Wang Chao, the gay-themed movie is also referred to as "Seek McCartney" and tells the story of two men that in love and facing the dilemma of accepting their relationship and the prejudice they will face.

The movie stars French actor Jeremie Elkaim and Chinese singer and actor Han Geng.

In 1997, China’s government decriminalised gay sex, and in 2001, it was removed from the official list of mental disorders.

In a post on Chinese social media website Weibo, director Chao wrote: “This is a small step for the film department, and a big step for the members of the film industry.”

Recently, a popular same-sex drama "Addicted Heroin" was pulled from online streaming websites, causing protest on social media.
