A former Stratton Oakmont executive, Greene is suing with claims that he was defamed in the 2013 Martin Scorsese film.

Greene sued in 2014 for over $50 million, with claims that he was defamed in the film through the depiction of a character Nicky Koskoff, portrayedby P.J. Byrne.

According to Paramount, the character Koskoff was inspired by multiple individuals, including the plaintiff Greene.

Opposing the order, defence lawyers insist that DiCaprio did not write the screenplay, and that there was no claim he had any role in deciding whether alleged defamatory content should be included in or excluded from the film.

On Thursday, June 16, 2016, Judge Steven Locke ordered that DiCaprio be made available for questioning.

DiCaprio played Jordan Belfort, who founded Stratton Oakmont. The award winning movie was adapted from the memoir of the same name by Belfort, and recounts his career as a stockbroker, and his downfall.
