In an exclusive interview with Pulse Nigeria, Nollywood actress and producer, Lala Akindoju, spoke on importance of criticisms and reviews in a creative industry.

While some filmmakers love having their works critiqued and reviewed, others get emotional over negative reviews.

In most cases, filmmakers take to social media to express annoyance over negative reviews and ratings received.

According to the 'Dazzling Mirage' star, a creative industry cannot thrive without criticisms.

"Funny enough, I'm on the opposite side. A creative industry cannot thrive without criticisms. A creative industry cannot thrive without reviews.

"Many of the people we are trying to emulate abroad, they have grown from reviews. You make a film, and the filmmaker is waiting for the critiques to write articles before he can even feel good.

"Before I go to watch a film, I will google it, and see what people are saying about the film. What did this film get on a site like Rotten Tomatoes?

"But because we are Nigerians, and we are sensitive, we take this things personally". - Lala said.

"Constructive criticism is very welcome. Let critiques step away from the people and focus on the work. Don't attack a person's personality. - She added.

Lala is popular for her outstanding performances on stage and screen. She also stars in Mildred Okwo and Rita Dominc's upcoming movie 'Surulere'.
