Considered to be the largest gathering of Kannywood artistes, Technical crew, relevant individuals and groups, the awards will hold in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Launched in 2013 by Sarari Klassique Merchandise, the awards was created to acknowledge talented artists in Kannywood.
The 2016 edition will comprise of more than 20 awards, given under 3 separate categories – Popular Awards, Jury Awards (Technical and Critics Awards) and special Awards.

Popular and award winning actor, Ali Nuhu, triumphed at the 2015 edition of the MTN/Kannywood awards, winning in the much coveted "Best Actor" category.
