Filmmaker speaks on disposable and timeless Nollywood film

"What you call disposable films are key to the existence of the industry. " Joke Silva on timeless and disposable Nollywood films.

 

The filmmaker who is popular for screen and stage works like "Violated," "Hear Word," "Widows Cot," "Letters to a Stranger" among others, spoke on disposable and quality movies, using a roundabout, grasses and flowers for illustration.

"Let's look at it like some of our roundabouts that we see when we are travelling from one destination to another, we are trying to make them as beautiful as possible.

Now, part of the beauty of those roundabouts is the grass. But then, those that really attract you are the flowers, and the more colour, the better.

But then, it's very rare to find a roundabout that is full of just flowers, even the flowers, they tend to have a lot of grim, that's what brings out the beauty of the flowers.

So that is the way I would describe the Nigerian film industry. What you call disposable films are key to the existence of the industry.
