British-Nigerian wins "Rising Star award" at BAFTA 2016

Nigerian-British actor, John Boyega, has won his second award at the 69th British Academy Film Awards on February14, 2016.

John dedicated the awards to other hopeful actors saying;

'"Guys, I haven't been doing this for a long time, it's a fluke! I'm gonna share this award with all the young dreamers who are determined, who are hard working, who are quite frankly amazing. This is also for you. Blessings for your path and God bless."

The 23-year-old beat other nominees including Dakota Johnson, Brie Larson, Taron Egerton and Bel Powley.

The actor joins previous winners like Will Poulter, Tom Hardy, Kristen Stewart, Noel Clarke, Eva Green and James McAvoy to win the prize.

Boyega (born 17 March 1992) is an English actor born to Nigerian parent. He came into limelight for playing Finn in the 2015 film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

The inclusion of a black stormtropper in the 'movie caused quite a stir on social media in November 2014.

In an interview,the actor had described the reaction as unnecessary, saying;

“I’m in the movie, what are you going to do about it? You either enjoy it or you don’t. I’m not saying get used to the future. It's is already happening. People of colour and women are increasingly being shown on screen. For things to be whitewashed just doesn’t make sense."
