Movie beats 'The Martian' to top box office

Starring Jack Black, the movie which cost $58 million to produce, earned $23.5 million in its opening weekend.

The Sony horror movie 'Goosebumps' has beat to top the box office chart in its debut, two weekends before Halloween.

Starring Jack Black, the movie which cost $58 million to produce, and was expected to make a $29 million debut, earned $23.5 million in its opening weekend.

The movie also beat new releases including Steven Speilberg's 'Bridge of Spies,' and Netflix's 'Beasts of No Nation, to become number one.

The film is based on the popular children's book series written by R.L Stine, which has sold 400 million copies worldwide in 32 languages.

Directed by Rob Letterman, and written by Darren Lemke, the film stars Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Ryan Lee, and Jillian Bell.
