How challenging was it for Genevieve Nnaji to produce the anticipated "Road to Yesterday, and what kept her going? Watch actress' response.
The world premiere of Genevieve Nnaji's movie "Road to Yesterday," held at the closing night of the 2015 African International Film Festival on Friday, November 13, 2015.
During a press conference for the movie, the actress and co-star Oris Erhuerho, spoke on the challenges encountered on set.
The actress also spoke on what kept her going.
On Challenges ;
Oris : "She [Genevieve Nnaji] had literally put me up against the wall to look at my life and my past with women, and it was very very very hard to cross that line."
Genevieve : "Shooting was a challenge for everyone on set. But for me personally, doing it and doing it right, and doing it right for the right reason was enough mental challenge for me. And I had to stay focused, and I had to be very very distinct in what I wanted.
On What Kept her Going;
"The people around me. Looking at the crew, It was amazing to see how much fire they had in them.
The truth is, I had to stay strong, It was my production, so I couldn't appear weak or tired.
I had to put up a front everytime, even when I was tired. If the director said "let's go," I had to.
I could have complained. Like if it weren't my set, You know I could be a diva like 'You know I'm tired.'
But I couldn't do that this time around because I had people watching me, people depending on me. And that was all the energy and encouragement I needed."
'Road to Yesterday' stars Nigerian-British actor, Oris Erhuerho as ‘Izu’ the burly husband and father, and Genevieve Nnaji as ‘Victoria’ the conflicted wife and mother.
Set in Lagos Nigeria, Road to Yesterday is an epic love story, about a couple desperate to mend its marriage on a road trip to a relative’s funeral.
