Film's director isn't returning for sequel

The director of one of this year's Hollywood blockbusters 'Fifty Shades of Grey' will not be returning for movie sequel.

Sam Taylor-Johnson has left the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. 

Sam Taylor-Johnson, the director of the hit 2015 erotic romance movie 'Fifty Shades of Grey' announced on Wednesday that she will not be directing the film’s sequels.

According to reports, the decision is as of a result of creative differences between her and E.L. James, the author of the novel on which the movie is based.

“While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three,” Taylor-Johnson said.

'Fifty Shades of Grey' has so far earned a total of $558.6 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter of movie, Kelly Marcel may also not return for the sequel.
