One of Nigeria's leading actresses, Akindele is known for popularizing the Yoruba accent through her movie "Jenifa" which also has a spin-off series with the same tittle that airs across the country.

Akindele was one of the lead actors in the popular united nations population fund (UNFPA) sponsored series known as “I need to know” which aired from 1998-2002. Her big break came with her debut movie “Jenifa”.
