Tyrese calls out Ryan Seacrest on Hot 97

Tyrese is no stranger to controversy especially for not being afraid of airing his views on issues surrounding music – his music- and other things.

In a radio interview with Hot 97 in New York, Tyrese called out TV/Radio hots, undefinedfor allegedly being bias towards his music.

Tyrese told the station that the popular E! Host deliberately refused to give his hit track -'Stay'- airplay on his On Air with Ryan Seacrest, a morning radio show on KIIS-FM and some what prevented the song to fly on iHeartRadio.

Speaking about the true essence of Rhythm and Blues (R&B) genre to the world now, the 'Fast & Furious' star admitted that the genre is struggling to survive among Pop and Hip Hop despite it being dependent on each other. He insists that songs shouldn't be limited to a certain clan of people.

''It's a dying spot... like, how many people will run to the store and say 'I will like to support a full R&B album', instead of going to iTune and downloading individual songs'', Tyrese says.

On the issue about Urban adult contemporary not helping in breaking new songs, Tyrese says: ''Music shouldn't just be boxed in... here is an example... I am not a racist, no homophobes... but, Sam Smith had a song called 'Stay'.. I had a song called Stay. My song was at #1 for eleven weeks on Billboard. The biggest single of my entire career. It was on urban ac format and non of the pop urban mainstream radio stations never played it. Ryan Seacrest never played my song.''

Praising Sam Smith, the singer added, ''I became a full fan of Sam Smith after seeing him play live at the pre-Grammy pre-party with Clive Davies. That dude can sing his ass off. He is real, no auto tunes, no studio gar-mics he is a real dude. I am a big fan. But why is Smith's song called 'Stay' played on all formats of radio and my song called 'Stay' stops at two? Answer me the question somebody!''

He continued: ''So, if its about playing the best music, it shouldn't feel like its about race or it shouldn't be about limitation being put on any artist when a song is doing so well in two different format. It should be about that song is doing well on the chart. That thing winning, Its number 1 for 11 weeks more than likely Ryan Seacrest... My listeners can respond to that same song whether he is black or not. I should be it s the biggest song over here, so it will probably be huge over here. Ryan Seacrest plays other black artists and I won't make it about that.''

When told that Ryan is not in full control of all the songs that are being played on radio KIIS-FM or mainstream radio.

He reponded: ''At the end of the day he is in tune of what's hot. He's got the power to press some buttons and get his people to play the biggest songs.. so it's confusing to me''.
