A large chunk of Nollywood actresses were known to be Pro-GEJ, check out their reaction to Buhari winning the presidential elections.
During the months of campaigning for the presidential elections, it appeared as though the entire Nollywood clan of actors and actresses were in support of PDP candidate and incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Actresses such as Ibinabo Fiberesima, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli and even Toyin Aimakhu-Johnson who said she can die for PDP were all pro-GEJ.
Today April 1, 2015, APC candidate General Mohammed Buhari has been announced as the president elect of Nigeria and here are the reactions from PDP-supporting Nollywood actresses.
Toyin Aimakhu Johnson to her Instagram page to share her congratulations "I know quite a number of you have been waiting for this, so here it is. To start with, I love you all and if you insult me I will jegalise you.. a lot of you have been arsenal fans for a very long time and even without many victories, you still support them, so i urge you all to view this as one of those matches, people loose, they get hurt and eventually get over it and move on... I congratulate APC and I believe in one Nigeria..... despite your abuses and insults (orubebeism) pls stay out of trouble and violence no politician is worth our blood... love you all."
Ini Edo sent out a tribute to GEJ, thanking him for assisting Nollywood:
"My President. You are indeed a great man. A man of honour, dedication and Integrity. Your kind nature will be missed by all Nigerians. You allowed Peace throughout this elections and made us as a nation understand that there's no alternative to Peace. You showed interest in an industry no other Nigerian President did. Entertainment! You contributed to giving us a voice. You helped us grow! If only for this reason sir, I remain eternally grateful. Nigerians have spoken and as the great man that you are again you have heard. God bless you Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. May your days be long and may you be granted your hearts desires. #GEJ #Transition #NigeriaDecides"
She then went on to congratulate Buhari when he was crowned as the next president:"Nigeria has decided. Congratulations Rtd Gen Mohammed Buhari, President elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I also congratulate Nigeria on the peace shown throughout this elections. I had supported President Jonathan but Your voices have been heard and your votes counted. Nigeria is about to embark on a new journey and my prayer is for Nigeria to continue to stand as one nation in peace and harmony. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. #truedemocracy #NigeriaDecides"
Mother of 3 and staunch supporter of GEJ, Omoni Oboli however didn't quite congratulate Buhari for his win, but rather Nigeria as a whole.
Other actresses, Mercy Johnson rode on a train to promote GEJ's campaign and Rita Dominic released a video to show her support have kept mum on the issue.
