"Charles Novia was having a bad day"

Seyi Shay had worn a sexy sheer dress to the evening ceremony, showing off her skin and her choice of dark underwear.

Nigerian pop singer, Seyi Shay has stepped into the current online attack on Charles Novia over scathing comments he made on her outfit to the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards which held last weekend.

Seyi Shay had worn a sexy sheer dress to the evening ceremony, showing off her skin and her choice of dark underwear, and generated polarised opinion. But veteran Nigerian movie producer, Novia, had waded into the matter with strong words, attacking her career and insinuating that it was a representation of a short career span.

Seyi Shay has choosen to rise above it all with a post on her twitter account which seemed to be more conciliatory and forgiving, ascribing Novia’s comments to a rough personal life.

Seyi Shay’s reaction comes after a heated twitter attack on Charles Novia by fans, interested persons, and certain celebrities.

On Air Personality and celebrity broadcaster with Cool FM, Freeze, led the rebuke of Novia, with a series of tweets which called on him to apologize.

“Bros this is really not a nice thing to say. I don't like the dress either but I will never diss her career. Pls apologize… Bros once again with all due respect, you are taking it too far… Dont get me wrong the attire was grossly inappropriate, but I have learnt over the years that advice works better than insult” Freeze had tweeted.

TV icon, Funmi Iyanda, also got in on the affair questioning Charles Novia’s use of words, finding deeper meaning in them.

"Why would you encourage violence against a person on account of their choice of dress?" She said.

Novia has gone on to apologize, admitting that he stepped out of line with his diss of Seyi Shay and her sheer black outfit, but still hanging onto his displeasure with her choice of attire.

Charles Novia has a long tradition of bitter quarrels with celebrities. Over the last year he has had similar episodes with Chika Ike, Genevieve Nnaji, and many others.
