American actress, Reese Witherspoon, has blamed her career slump on her ex-husband, actor, Ryan Phillippe and the divorce traumas she experienced after they split in 2006.

Reese Witherspoon experienced a career high after playing the role of June Carter Cash, the second wife of country-music singer and songwriter, Johnny Cash, in the movie Walk the Line.
Her role in the movie won her many awards and also a 2005 Oscar for Best Actress in Lead Role. After that movie however, Reese Witherspoon experience a decline and suffered a career slump before making another come back which has earned her a Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for the 2015 award season.
In a new interview with Charlie Rose, the 38-year-old actress opened up about her fall from grace and blamed her ex-husband for her fall.

After getting married in 1999, Reese Witherspoon and actor, Ryan Phillippe separated in 2006 and later divorced in October 2007 amidst rumors that Phillippe cheated with Australian star, Abbie Cornish.
Reese Witherspoon while speaking to Charlie Rose blamed her career fall on divorce trauma and her ex-husband.
“Phew, that was a tough year that followed. I got divorced the next year and I spent a few years just trying to feel better,” she told Rose in the interview.
"You know, you can't really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs.I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn't making things I was passionate about, I was just kinda working. It was really clear the audiences weren't responding to anything I was putting out there," Reese said.
Reese and Ryan have two children together; a daughter, Ava Elizabeth Phillippe, born September 9, 1999, and a son, Deacon Reese Phillippe, born October 23, 2003.

After the divorce, Reese Witherspoon went on to date another actor, Jake Gyllenhaal,before getting married to a talent agent, Jim Toth, in 2011. She has a son, Tennessee James Toth, born on September 27, 2012 for Toth.
Ryan Phillippe has also been in other relationships since his split from ex-wife, Reese Witherspoon. He has a daughter, Kailani Merizalde Phillippe-Knapp, born July 1, 2011 with actress, Alexis Knapp.
